I was invited to speak at Minwaashin Lodge Indigenous women’s support centre as it celebrated its 25th Anniversary on March 6, 2020.

Returning to Minwaashin Lodge is always special for me. In its early days, I worked with this invaluable centre of love and care for Indigenous women and children, serving on the board of directors for seven years. We worked on some exciting projects, such as implementing a needle exchange program and the STORM van, which allowed us to provide services to women directly on the streets.

At Minwaashin Lodge, there are many gifted and wonderful women who provide a one-stop-shop for women facing unique challenges based on their race, culture and gender. Their celebration was well-deserved.
